The ACR Larchdale is the largest cast iron stove in the range, a dedicated 9kW wood burner with a large glass window and a matt black finish set off by a brushed steel handle. As a wood-only stove it runs a cleaner burn than a multifuel grate, and it takes logs up to 50cm for larger rooms and open spaces.

Deciding whether ACR Larchdale Wood Burning Stove fits the brief
The Larchdale is for large living rooms, open-plan ground floors and older barns and farmhouses that need real output. At 9kW it is the ACR to reach for when the smaller stoves would be lost in the space.
It suits buyers who burn wood and only wood. A dedicated wood stove burns cleaner than a multifuel one, so if you have no intention of using smokeless fuel, this is the honest choice.

What to settle before specifying ACR Larchdale Wood Burning Stove
The Larchdale uses a 150mm flue, wider than the 125mm on the rest of the ACR range, so on the survey we check the chimney will take it before confirming the model. 9kW into a big room often needs a dedicated external air supply, which we assess along with the hearth, opening and, in smoke control areas, the DEFRA position for your address.
An honest steer
How it compares with similar models
Choose the Larchdale when the room is genuinely large and you burn wood. It is the biggest, and being wood-only it burns cleaner than the multifuel Ashdale.
If you want the flexibility of smokeless fuel, or the room is medium sized, the 7kW Ashdale is the better multifuel option. Do not fit a 9kW stove into a normal living room, it will be run too low to burn well.

The one we would specify for the larger farmhouses and open-plan conversions around Staffordshire and out towards Derby, where a big solid-walled space needs genuine heat. The 150mm flue means we check the chimney early, since not every older flue is ready for it.

Why is the Larchdale wood only when other ACR stoves are multifuel?
A dedicated wood grate is optimised for logs, so it burns cleaner and more efficiently than a multifuel grate that has to suit smokeless fuel as well. If you burn wood and only wood, that is a real advantage.
Is 9kW too much for an average room?
For an average room, yes. The Larchdale is built for large or open-plan spaces. We size the stove to the room on the survey and will point you at a smaller ACR if 9kW is more than you need.
Will my chimney take the Larchdale?
It uses a 150mm flue, which is wider than the rest of the ACR range, so we check the chimney can accept it early on the survey before recommending the model.
How much is the Larchdale fitted?
