A Tamworth fireplace restoration combining carefully matched brickwork and mortar, a natural oak beam, dark slate hearth and Heta Ambition 5 woodburning stove.

Tamworth
The project
Located at Heart of the Country Shopping Village, our showroom is roughly 8 miles from Tamworth, a quick 15-minute drive under normal traffic conditions. This convenient proximity is a major reason our team has spent the past 11 years working in this Staffordshire market town almost every single week.
Navigating the local architecture can range from straightforward projects to complex structural builds, but our HETAS-certified installers bring the expertise needed to tackle any home layout. Regardless of the construction challenges, we consistently deliver custom feature fireplaces fitted with your ideal wood-burning stove. For this installation, the selected appliance was the Heta Ambition 5 woodburning stove.

The work
What we did
This complex restoration required extensive planning and collaboration with our internal team of HETAS-registered installers and seasoned industry experts. After three other companies walked away from the project without providing a quote, our proposed scheme gave the client the confidence to move forward.
The transformation involved carefully removing the existing brick arch, increasing and rebuilding the fireplace chamber. To fulfil the client's request to preserve the fireplace's original character, we painstakingly matched the existing bricks and mortar coloration, a precise and time-consuming process. The final design features a custom recess crafted to hold a natural oak beam, seamlessly tying the historic brickwork together with a classic, finished look.

Verify Our HETAS Details Before Booking
When booking your stove installation with The Fireplace & Stove Co (TFS) or any installer, verifying registration details through the official HETAS directory ensures your project is fully compliant:
- Verify Business & Installer Status: Search the official HETAS online register to confirm that both the business and the individual attending engineer hold active, current registrations.
- Check Work Categories: Ensure the installer is specifically registered for your required work type (e.g., dry solid fuel appliance installation, internal twin-wall flue systems, or flexible chimney relining).
- Confirm Building Control Route: Work completed by a HETAS-registered competent person allows for self-certification under Building Regulations, saving you the time and expense of applying directly to your local council's Building Control department. If any part of the project falls outside their registered scope, a separate Building Control application must be arranged before work begins.
