The project
It is always a pleasure to work with a younger couple just starting out on their life journey together, helping them transform a standard 1990s estate home into a bright, contemporary space tailored to modern family living.
To create a safe and visually striking focal point, our Hetas installation team constructed a bespoke non-combustible feature chimney breast complete with an enlarged stove chamber opening. The back of the chamber was lined with light slate split-face tiles, designed to subtly reflect the ambient lighting and perfectly highlight the sleek lines of the new Hunter Isca woodburning stove.
To ground the feature, we installed a dark matte slate hearth with a clean 20mm flat profile, finished with a natural oak beam in a pine colour finish above the stove chamber opening to deliver a beautifully balanced aesthetic.
Our client then added built-in alcove furniture and storage, playful artwork, and warm family friendly textures. The completed fireplace brings both modern elegance and functional warmth to the heart of this lovely Cannock family home.

Twin Wall Flue Systems
A twin-wall insulated flue system consists of two concentric stainless-steel pipes separated by a thick layer of high-density insulation. This thermal barrier retains heat within the inner pipe, keeping flue gases hot to ensure a strong, consistent natural draw while maintaining a safe outer skin temperature that protects nearby walls, floors, and roof structures.
No Chimney Required: The ultimate solution for properties without a traditional brick chimney, allowing a log burner or multi-fuel stove to be installed in virtually any ground- or upper-floor room.
Flexible Routing: Can be routed straight up through internal ceilings and out through the roof or directed externally through an outer wall and up the building's exterior (as per this Cannock case study).
Bespoke Surveying: Designed using precise architectural and height calculations taken during a technical home survey to ensure ideal draft performance and safety clearances.
Aesthetic Options: Offered in a sleek, hard-wearing powder-coated black finish to blend seamlessly with contemporary interiors and modern exterior brickwork, or a classic polished stainless-steel finish.
